*Oke-Ogun Deserves the Governorship by 2027* A Call to Action by Oke-Ogun Indigenous Youths Solidarity Forum Fellow sons and daughters of Oke-Ogun, it's time to unite and harness our immense talents to promote our zone's bid for the Oyo State governorship seat in 2027. As the most populous zone after Ibadan, with ten local government areas and significant contributions to the state's agricultural production, we have a strong case for rotational leadership. *Why Oke-Ogun Deserves the Governorship* Despite our contributions, Oke-Ogun has been underrepresented in Oyo State's leadership.  Oke-Ogun has been the food basket of Oyo State, It's time for a change. We seek this position not out of bitterness but for balance, inclusivity, peace, and sustainable development. *Our Demands* We're not seeking this position out of bitterness or division but as a call for balance, inclusivity, peace, and sustainable development. We believe that every zone in Oyo State should h...

*GÓMÌNÀ Ọ̀YỌ́ ÒKÈÒGÙN LÓ KÀN – Part One* *Favour Adéwọyin* September 28, 2025 From the days of the Western Region through the old Ọ̀yọ́ State that birthed today’s Ọ̀ṣun and Ọ̀yọ́, down to the present political dispensation, one fact remains unshakable: no son or daughter of Òkèògùn has ever occupied the exalted seat of Governor or Premier. The farthest our people have been pushed — almost like a routine prescription — is the Deputy Governorship seat. To us in Òkèògùn, the title of Deputy Governor has become so monotonous, so recurrent, that it now evokes resentment rather than pride. Indeed, the Yoruba saying, “ìgbák’ìgbá n’ìgbá kejì” (always second fiddle), has become the bitter humour with which we describe our political fate. For five times in history, Òkèògùn has been saddled with the Deputy Governor’s office — an office popularly mocked as the “spare tyre.” Why this disdain? The reason for the disdain is because, in Nigerian politics, the Deputy Governor is constitutionally a figu...

It's time to take responsibility and make a change. *Let's Stop:* - Procrastinating and wasting our potential - Allowing negative influences to dictate our path - Focusing on short-term gains instead of long-term goals - Comparing ourselves to others and losing our identity - Giving up on our dreams and aspirations *Instead, Let's:* - Take ownership of our lives and decisions - Surround ourselves with positive influences and supportive peers - Focus on personal growth and self-improvement - Embrace our uniqueness and celebrate our differences - Work towards our goals with determination and resilience *Together, We Can:* Create a brighter future for ourselves and our community.  *ẸGBẸ́ ÀJỌṢEPỌ̀ FÚN ÌTẸSIWÁJÚ GBOGBO WA*  September 14, 2025.  *DISCLAIMER* _Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa rejects the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) Ọ̀yọ́ State’s decision_ The attention of Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa has been drawn to the recent decision of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ọ̀yọ́ State, to retain its existing executives from the state level down to the ward level as published in Goalpoachernews. We hereby state categorically that our association rejects this decision in its entirety as it is unjust, undemocratic, and strategically designed to further marginalise Òkèògùn region and its people. Retaining the current structure, which once again keeps the Party Chairman in Òkèògùn, is a deliberate political manoeuvre to disqualify and debar our region from producing the Governor of Ọ̀yọ́ State in 2027. This is not only unfair but also a direct assault on the principles of fairness, equity, justice, and inclusive representation that ...

ÒKÈÒGÙN, ÌBÀRÀPÁ, Ọ̀YỌ́ AND ÒGBÓMỌ̀ṢỌ́: LIBERATE YOURSELVES! By Favour Adéwọyin September 13, 2025

ÒKÈÒGÙN, ÌBÀRÀPÁ, Ọ̀YỌ́ AND ÒGBÓMỌ̀ṢỌ́: LIBERATE YOURSELVES! By Favour Adéwọyin September 13, 2025 To call for liberation is to acknowledge the presence of bondage. Bondage may wear many faces — political, social, economic, cultural, spiritual, or even personal. Liberation, therefore, is the act of breaking free from restriction, injustice, and domination; it is the pursuit of freedom, dignity, and self-determination. For decades, four of the five regions that make up Ọ̀yọ́ State — Òkèògùn, Ìbàràpá, Ọ̀yọ́, and Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ — have cried out against marginalisation, exclusion, and neglect. Their voices echo the reality of inequity: where one region thrives, others languish; where opportunities abound for some, scarcity defines the rest. Infrastructure, resources, and governance remain skewed in favour of a single bloc, leaving the rest to endure stagnation and frustration. Yet, liberation cannot be achieved in fragments. A divided people cannot free themselves. Unity of purpose is the...

THE CASE AGAINST POLITICAL MARGINALISATION IN OYO STATE:

Image
*THE CASE AGAINST POLITICAL MARGINALISATION IN OYO STATE:* _Why Òkèògùn Must Not Be Trapped Again in the Old Cycle of Denial_ On behalf of Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa Since the dawn of the Fourth Republic in 1999, Oyo State has been locked in an orchestrated pattern of political exclusion, a recurring script designed to deny Òkèògùn its rightful opportunity to produce the Governor of Oyo State. Time and again, the region is strategically boxed into a corner by ceding to it the position of Party Chairman or Deputy Governor, a political arrangement that, in practice, has been a subtle instrument of disqualification from the highest seat of governance. Today, September 10, 2025 we read from Goalpoachernews (online) that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) seeks to repeat this age-long injustice by zoning the party chairmanship to Òkèògùn ahead of the 2027 elections. Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa assumes this is not true, but if it is true, let it be clearly stated...

THE IMPERATIVE OF DUE PROCESS AT FUNATO* *Favour Adéwọyin* September 9, 2025

Image
*THE IMPERATIVE OF DUE PROCESS AT FUNATO* *Favour Adéwọyin* September 9, 2025 We owe God endless gratitude for the gift of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Òkehò (FUNATO) — the first full-fledged university in the Òkèògùn region of Ọ̀yọ́ State. Indeed, as the Yorùbá say, "ọ̀rọ̀ wa t'ọ́pẹ́ ó j'ọpẹ́ lọ" — our story begins and ends with thanksgiving. The Federal Government’s recent policy of appointing leaders of new universities from their host communities has brought immense joy to Òkèògùn. It is why both the pioneer Vice Chancellor and Bursar of FUNATO hail from our land. And more may yet follow. Reliable sources indicate that in all new federal institutions, up to 75% of appointments will be drawn from host communities. This presents a rare opportunity for our people, but also a sobering responsibility. Yes, we must rejoice. Yes, we must prepare to take our rightful place. But even as we position ourselves, we must insist that every appointment ...
