*ÒKÈÒGÚN PEOPLE — IT IS TIME TO WISE UP!* *Favour Adéwọyin,* January 26, 2026 To “wise up” is to awaken — to become conscious, discerning, and properly informed after a season of naïveté, carelessness, or deception. It is the point at which one stops acting foolishly, having learnt hard lessons from experience and discovered uncomfortable truths. By every reasonable measure, the people of Òkèògùn must, by now, "wise up."  Enough of political innocence. Enough of allowing ourselves to be treated as expendable commodities — bought cheaply, traded easily, and discarded carelessly in the political marketplace. We must stop submitting to manipulation through the familiar baits deliberately set by those who benefit from our continued vulnerability. They will come with money — because poverty has been weaponised against us. Hunger, unpaid bills, and economic hardship have been turned into tools of political conquest. If you must, collect their money; but do not sell your conscience...

*HAPPY GOLDEN JUBILEE TO OYO STATE* *By Engr. Dauda Olaifa,* January 25, 2026 In a few days’ time, Oyo State will mark a historic milestone—its Golden Jubilee. Fifty years is no small feat in the life of an individual, and even more significant in the life of a state. Over the decades, Oyo State has traversed seasons of triumph and trial, progress and pause, beauty and blemish. It has experienced the good, the better, and the best; it has also endured the bad, the worse, and the worst. Such is the honest story of growth. From the era of military administrations to successive civilian governments, the narrative of Oyo State has been painstakingly written and firmly established. Emerging from the old Oyo State—which once comprised the present Oyo and Osun States—our collective journey has been shaped by countless events and defining moments. These experiences, too numerous to recount within this space, have together made the journey meaningful and instructive. Yet, one recurring ref...

*TWO MODELS OF REPRESENTATION: WHAT SENATOR NATASHA AKPOTI’S PERFORMANCE REVEALS ABOUT OYO NORTH*   Across Nigeria, citizens have long been conditioned to accept mediocrity in political representation. We are told—often patronisingly—that a senator must serve two or three terms before results can be expected; that patience is the price of democracy; that excuses are governance. Yet, the extraordinary visibility and impact of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central have shattered this convenient myth. Her record forces an uncomfortable but necessary comparison—particularly with senatorial districts like Oyo North, where vast towns and communities still struggle with poor infrastructure, limited federal presence, and scant dividends of democracy despite years of uninterrupted representation. *When Representation Is Felt, Not Explained:* In Kogi Central, representation has become tangible. Projects are seen, touched, and used. Water flows where there was scarcity. L...

*BEWARE OF IMPOSITION* *Favour Adéwọyin,* January 3, 2026.  On behalf of Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa, an advocacy group whose vision is Governorship Power Rotation to Òkèògùn come 2027 is saying that the future of a people must never be decided by force, fiat, or the convenience of a few. History is unequivocal: imposition is the enemy of justice, the graveyard of legitimacy, and the architect of instability. Any attempt to impose a candidate on the people of Ọ̀yọ́ State — especially on Òkèògùn — will deepen mistrust, inflame resentment, and endanger the fragile fabric of our collective coexistence. Our vision is clear and just: Governorship Power Rotation to Òkèògùn in 2027. This is not a plea; it is a principled demand anchored in fairness, equity, and historical balance. Òkèògùn has endured decades of marginalisation and exclusion, and the consequences are visible, painful, and undeniable. Marginalisation manifests in impassable roads, hospitals without personne...

*THE DANGERS OF RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE TO A HOST COMMUNITY: A REFLECTION FOR ÒKÈÒGÙN AND FUNATO, OKEHO* *Favour Adéwọyin,* January 2, 2026.  This article on religious intolerance becomes necessary because a problem ignored is a wound continually reopened. As the Yorùbá wisdom aptly warns, "bí ìná ọ́ tán l’áṣọ, ẹ̀jẹ̀ kìí tán l’ẹ́ẹ̀kán" — so long as lice remain in a garment, blood will never cease to stain the fingers. Religious intolerance is such a lingering infestation: when left unaddressed, it perpetuates pain, distrust, and recurring violence, no matter how often we wipe our hands and pretend cleanliness. This article therefore opens not as a mere commentary, but as a moral and civic intervention — an urgent call to confront a corrosive menace that undermines social cohesion, sabotages development, and erodes the very foundations of justice, peace, and shared humanity. Before proceeding to define religious intolerance and to engage in deeper analysis, it is important to s...
