*WARNING AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF GEHAZI*
*Favour Adéwọyin*
October 22, 2025
There is a spirit within every man that influences his thoughts, choices, and actions. That spirit was divinely created by God, but it yields either to the influence of the Spirit of God or to the corruption of the evil one — depending on where the heart leans at any given time.
Gehazi, the servant of Prophet Elisha, stands as a timeless example of what becomes of a man who allows greed to overpower divine purpose. Elisha himself was the successor of the mighty Elijah — the prophet who called down fire from heaven, commanded the rain to cease, and spoke it back into being. Elisha, blessed with a double portion of that anointing, performed even greater exploits. By divine order, Gehazi was positioned to inherit an even greater grace — a fourfold anointing. But he lost everything, not because of lack of opportunity, but because of covetousness.
Gehazi’s downfall was not written by his enemies; it was self-inflicted by greed. He traded eternal greatness for momentary gain, and the leprosy that marked his betrayal became a symbol of divine displeasure against covetous hearts.
Today, as the Òkèògùn region strengthens its collective advocacy toward producing the next Governor of Ọ̀yọ́ State in 2027, we must learn from Gehazi’s tragedy. The *Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa* warns sternly against the infiltration of that same destructive spirit of greed, selfish ambition, and material lust among our people.
Covetousness is a corrosive spirit. It turns cooperation into competition, unity into rivalry, and purpose into profit. The Òkèògùn agenda is not a personal race but a regional mandate — a sacred call for justice, equity, and balanced representation in Ọ̀yọ́ State’s leadership structure. This cause is greater than any individual ambition, and it must not be compromised for the fleeting satisfaction of “stomach infrastructure.”
We remind every son and daughter of Òkèògùn that Gehazi allowed greed to destroy his destiny. Likewise, any attempt to trade Òkèògùn’s common struggle for personal benefit will attract both moral judgment and political failure. The spirit of Gehazi must never find a foothold in our midst. The mantra “Gómìnà Ọ̀yọ́ — Òkèògùn ló kàn” is not an echo of entitlement, but a cry for fairness long delayed.
Our association, Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa, reaffirms its total commitment to unity, discipline, and integrity. We call on all leaders, politicians, community figures, and stakeholders across Òkèògùn to stand firm, reject division, and uphold the collective dream with maturity and sincerity. Only through oneness of purpose can Òkèògùn command the respect and support necessary to achieve this historic goal.
We stand for justice, not greed; unity, not rivalry; service, not self. Òkèògùn will rise honourably because this cause bears the seal of divine approval — and we know it.
As Òkèògùn stands at the gateway of destiny, preparing to claim its rightful place in Ọ̀yọ́ State’s leadership come 2027, let it be declared in clear, unwavering terms: no power of greed, selfishness, or betrayal shall derail this noble cause.
Let every man and woman who dares to yield to the Gehazi spirit be warned — whoever allows greed, avarice, or material indulgence to turn them against this sacred cause will, by the justice of heaven and the judgment of history, share in Gehazi’s fate. As his leprosy clung to him as a mark of dishonour, so shall the stain of betrayal cling to anyone who sells the destiny of Òkèògùn for personal gain.
The "Òkèògùn ló kàn" movement powered by *Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa* is not a market for traders of conscience; it is a moral mission built on truth, sacrifice, and unity. Let us therefore rise above greed and stand firm in the conviction that our time has come — and no Gehazi shall stop it.
