*Patience and progress: Assurance on the steady takeoff of FUNATO*
Dear esteemed members of the public,
It is understandable that many are eager for the commencement of academic and administrative activities at the newly established Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO). However, it is important to emphasize that the current delay in admitting students and recruiting staff does not signify neglect or denial on the part of government. As our people wisely say, “Ape koto jeun, kii je idi baje” (a delay in eating does not spoil the meal).
The University Administration, in close collaboration with the FUNATO Planning Committee, relevant stakeholders across OkeOgun, and the University Governing Council, is diligently ensuring that every step is taken in line with federal guidelines. FUNATO, being the last among the newly announced universities in the South, is progressing according to the approved national schedule.
The Federal Ministry of Education remains fully committed to seeing that the first set of students are admitted within this academic year. In due course, the National Universities Commission (NUC) will visit FUNATO for resource verification, after which the approved programmes will be officially announced.
Our expectations are high, our resolve unwavering, and our preparations thorough. With collective patience and support, FUNATO shall take off on a strong and promising foundation. Indeed, all hands are on deck.
Prof. O. J. Babayemi
Vice-Chancellor, FUNATO
