*HAPPY GOLDEN JUBILEE TO OYO STATE*

In a few days’ time, Oyo State will mark a historic milestone—its Golden Jubilee. Fifty years is no small feat in the life of an individual, and even more significant in the life of a state. Over the decades, Oyo State has traversed seasons of triumph and trial, progress and pause, beauty and blemish. It has experienced the good, the better, and the best; it has also endured the bad, the worse, and the worst. Such is the honest story of growth.

From the era of military administrations to successive civilian governments, the narrative of Oyo State has been painstakingly written and firmly established. Emerging from the old Oyo State—which once comprised the present Oyo and Osun States—our collective journey has been shaped by countless events and defining moments. These experiences, too numerous to recount within this space, have together made the journey meaningful and instructive.

Yet, one recurring refrain persists: “the good old days.” While nostalgia has its place, it is not a flattering testimony when a people find greater comfort in yesterday than confidence in today. The time has come to deliberately rewrite this narrative. The task before us is to work relentlessly so that the present surpasses the past, and the future outshines them both. Oyo State must be placed firmly on a path of ever-expanding progress, prosperity, and promise.

Against this backdrop—and with the firm belief that those entrusted with authority will continue to act in the best interest of the state—Ẹgbẹ́ Àjọṣepọ̀ Fún Ìtẹsiwájú Gbogbo Wa warmly felicitates with the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, FNSE, and indeed all citizens of the state on this 50th anniversary of our dear state.

While we acknowledge and commend the strides already made by the previous present administrations, our earnest prayer is that Oyo State will continue to move from glory to glory. We further pray that the will of God alone shall prevail as we journey toward 2027 and beyond.

As we celebrate this golden moment with the resilient and progressive people of Oyo State, we respectfully call on His Excellency to give thoughtful attention to the long-standing concerns of marginalisation in Oke-Ogun, and to take decisive, favourable steps in the true spirit of fairness, justice, equity, equality, and inclusivity.

Long live Oke-Ogun!

Long live Oyo State!

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
